The Centerville Contemporary Ballet (CCB) is a pre-professional youth ballet company and training program focused on raising young artists with sound classical technique and an understanding of personal artistic style.  Classically trained, the dancers are also fluent in contemporary movement and are just as comfortable in pointe shoes as they are barefoot.  With innovative teaching techniques and a family style atmosphere, the CCB staff help children develop a passion not only for dance itself, but also for the intellectual understanding of one's own body and the origin of movement from within.
CCB came into existence in 2003 under the direction of Renee Cook.  Prior to being accepted into the company, the dancers have been trained at the Howard School of Dance, the host school for the Centerville Contemporary Ballet, and have received stage experience through the competition program at HSD under the Direction of Debra Howard.

As part of their training, our dancers begin studying performance videos from the world's top dancers from a very early age, from classics like 'Sleeping Beauty' to contemporary choreographers such as Jiri Kylian.  This has created an instinctive understanding of what works and what does not and has allowed the dancers to be free of fear in learning new types of movement.

The Centerville Contemporary Ballet participates in the Youth American Grand Prix, the world's largest scholarship based international ballet competition.

In the 2007 season, two of our dancers had the honor of being invited to attend classes held during the New York City International Finals.

In 2008, eight of our dancers qualified to compete in the International Finals in New York City and spent a week attending classes, rehearsals, and competing against other ballet students from all over the world.

In 2009, two of our ensembles (20 dancers total) were asked to return to New York City to compete in the International Finals.

In 2010, one soloist competed in the International Finals winning full scholarships to both The American Ballet Theatre and Houston Ballet summer intensives. Another soloist was invited to attend the YAGP summer intensive.

CCB returns to YAGP held in Indianapolis in February, 2011 to compete in the semi-finals.  Stay tuned for results!
